Play date with Layla and Aiyana
Eleanor's friend Layla came over for a play date. Ok, ok, it was more of a mommy play date but the girls had a good time too. Layla's little sister Aiyana came to play with Jonah, but he slept most of the time. The big girls colored, Trista and I talked, Aiyana and Jonah nursed and drooled! The most fun was when Layla and Eleanor were playing outside in the house and then they started playing tag. Trying to snap cute pictures of little girls playing tag is quite a challenge, so here are some of playing house! The little ones weren't up for photos so none of them. I love that Eleanor is at the play date age, so much fun for everyone!
I took back The Keys!!!
Going back to all the places I went to last with Matt has been difficult to say the least. I think Hawaii was the worst. That is where we met and fell in love. I met him only after one month of being there so my entire time in Hawaii was wrapped up in our courtship, imagine how hard it was returning after one month of being separated. But, I went and took back Hawaii! And I'm so glad I did because I absolutely love that place and to make new memories with my daughter and friends was just what I needed. So, I had to do that with the Florida Keys too!
I didn't start the Keys with Matt so it wasn't quite as hard. The last two times I went were with Matt and those were the most recent memories I had, so I needed to face them. Never mind the fact that it was the one year mark that Matt left. I remember vividly the details of that week and basically ruined my parents first Keys vacation in a long, long time. They were so wonderful taking time to talk to me whenever I needed. Also, two days after we returned from our last trip there in May 2008, we found out I was pregnant with Eleanor. It was on the way out of the Keys that I experienced my first morning sickness, though we didn't know it at the time! It was such a warm, happy memory for me looking back, knowing I was growing our first baby. Also, I loved introducing Matt to one of my favorite vacation places and he loved it just as much as I ever had. Many future vacations were in our future, or so I thought.
This year, I am happy to say that I made new memories with my TWO beautiful babies. And, I'm looking forward to next year with the new friends we made. I am so thankful to my parents who helped me so much with taking care of the kids. We all took turns staying inside while the kids napped. It was a blessing to be able to go and have their help. Eleanor loved the beach and the pool! She was such a good girl and even slept in a "big girl bed" with me. (Side note-we tried a toddler rail on her crib, but that didn't go so well. So she remains in a crib!) I did, indeed, take back the Keys. I still have the memories and the photos of former trips, a former life really, but I have better memories and sweeter pictures now. And no one will bitter those memories, ever. And now, here is the photographic evidence of my favorite Keys trip to date!

On the plane, ready to head to Florida!
Eleanor loves happy hour
She had so much fun digging in the sand
Jonah liked the beach, but only for a few minutes
Making silly faces!
Making sweet faces!
Sleeping in the big bed...dangerously close to the edge!
The "animals" at Safari lounge.
Good morning Florida!
Last night at a fav spot, The Lorelei
Sunset
Eleanor absolutely loved the magician, it was so fun to watch her watch him!
Me and my beautiful children, how lucky am I??

"Come on, follow me"
This is what I hear from Eleanor all the time! She loves to grab my hand and show me everything. The dock was just right for her to walk under....me not so much. I had to duck down and go under it, again and again and again. But she loves playing at the beach and taking the lead so how could I not oblige?!? Watching my children smile and giggle and enjoy life is one of my greatest pleasures.

I Can See the Beach!
After a very, very emotionally hard weekend, I am reenergized and refocused...on the Florida Keys!!! We are going this Thursday and I absolutely cannot wait to get away from this place and these thoughts. Now, I know that thoughts, emotions and problems follow you. However, I cannot help but think they are a little easier while soaking up the Florida sun and watching my water-loving daughter play her heart out at the pool!
I had a great counseling session this morning and that is always so helpful. I need to control my thoughts to those that I can control and make sense of. My mind often wonders to "their" senseless decisions and lives and it takes me to a bad, bad place. I simply can't find logic in what they do, nor can I control it. But, I can control what I think and do...or at least I can try. So that is just what I'll do.

Eleanor Says...
The funniest dang things!! A lot of my blogging friends put their funny kid quotes so I thought I'd join the masses. Here are a few things that have truly made me LOL the past few days:
She comes up to me very excited and says "suh-weet!" It took me a few times to get what she was saying. And I'm pretty sure she was saying it because she was getting a waffle snack!
At dinner she says "Don't worry mommy, I right here. Don't worry, it's aw-wight." While she says this, she pulls my face down to her face and puts her little arm around my neck. Who could worry about anything with this?
Again at dinner she emphatically told me "I da queen!" Me "No, I'm the queen. You're the princess." Eleanor "No, I da queen. I not da princess!!!"
My all time favorite though has to be "I loves you mommy, I loves you." Aaaawwww, melts my heart!
Now if only she wouldn't color on my mom's walls....

Quick Update
Well, we all seem to be on the mend! Thank God for that. Eleanor and Jonah still have a little residual cough but it's clearing. For Jonah I used eucalyptus oil with lavender oil on a make-up pad for his cool mist vaporizer. Now, I don't know if it was just the end of the cold or if it was the oils but the first night I did that was the last night of his frequent coughing fits! Yay for natural healing.
Which brings me to my next venture...I'm getting back to green!! There are so many wonderful mommy blogs out there with a TON of helpful natural living tips. I'm talking make your own soap and shampoo kinda tips!! Love it. So, I've decided to follow in their footsteps. I'm going to start detoxing my household products! I'll pass along winning recipes along the way. I just think it's so important to be as natural as possible. Does this mean I will NEVER give Eleanor good old Kraft mac and cheese or throw away my make-up, burn my bra and smell badly....no way! I'm still a girl afterall and well, she likes Kraft...me too. However, small changes like eliminating harmful cleaning chemicals and skin products is a very good start! Oh, and my little cake venture seems to be taking an up turn! I'm hoping all areas of my life are in the same swing :) And now my sweet babies in the morning...

These two little sweeties and my faith in God keep carrying me through this deep valley in my life. I am being tested, but I know all of this will be used for good someday if I can just stay the course and remain faithful, obedient and patient. Patience is what I struggle with the most! I'm still a work in progress...
